Trivia

The scene involving Brad Whitaker (Will Ferrell) botching a half court shot and hitting a cheerleader with a basketball, was filmed during half-time of a real basketball game between the Pelicans and the Lakers in New Orleans, Louisiana. Videos of the incident quickly popped up on video sites such as YouTube and Vine. See more »

Goofs

When "Christmas in April Santa" reveals the tickets for the basketball game, he says they are for the "NBA Playoff game between the Lakers and the Pelicans". However, when at the game, there were no indications of the game being an NBA Playoff game. The NBA puts the large "Playoffs" logo prominently in two places on the court floor, and every player has a "Playoffs" logo sewn onto their uniforms. The court, seen many times in full wide view, had no "Playoff" markings and the player uniforms were standard regular season uniforms. . See more »

Brad Whitaker: [narrating] Here's a question for you. What do kids need more, a father or a dad? What's the difference? The way I see it, darn near anyone can be a father...

Brad Whitaker: ... but not everyone has the patience or the devotion to be a dad. As for me, I've always wanted to be a dad. Let me tell you, I love it! Yeah!

Brad Whitaker: And I love my Ford Flex. It treats me to a smooth ride, and you know what? It didn't break the bank. Room enough for the whole family.

Step up Dad
12 June 2016 | by See all my reviews

This is actually pretty funny. It's not the most sophisticated comedy, but you should know that even before watching this. Mark Wahlberg showing off his perks ... I mean comedic talents again. Also his muscles yes (for those who care). There are quite a few jokes that go below the belt (even literally), but it's all kept pretty light, if you don't mind that direction in general.

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have lots of fun, playing off each other and being "enemies". The ending kind of could be seen as a "things to come" kind of thing, which might ring true, with Part 2 already announced (though the movie as I know did not make that much business in Germany at least). Still you get what the box/cover promises after all, so why complain?
