The Contender” is back in the ring, this time on Epix.

The show revolves around an elimination-style competition among 16 boxers as they train and fight in the hopes of winning a six-figure purse and the title of “The Contender.” Several pugilists from the earlier incarnation went on to compete in world championships, including Sergio Mora, who took the Wbc Super Welterweight Championship title in 2008.

Eric Van Wagenen is executive producer and showrunner alongside Burnett, who is now president of MGM Television and Digital. Van Wagenen worked on the original series with Burnett. Sylvester Stallone was also on board the NBC version but there’s no word if he’s back again this time.

Has ABC Signalled Inhumans’ Cancellation?

Has ABC Signalled Inhumans’ Cancellation?
Bad news, Inhumans fans, it looks like ABC may have cancelled its fledging series after just one season.

Starring Iwan Rheon, Serinda Swan and Ken Leung, Inhumans got off to a rocky start. Spectacularly launched in IMAX, the Marvel TV show failed to pull in the critical or commercial acclaim that shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Daredevil did. Even the honor of being first TV series to air in IMAX couldn’t save Inhumans from a universally panned debut season, meaning that the writing was already on the wall for the show, however, ABC may have just sealed its fate.

TNT Parts Ways With ‘Snowpiercer’ Showrunner Josh Friedman (Exclusive)
TNT has parted ways with Josh Friedman, the showrunner of the TV adaptation of “Snowpiercer,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Friedman was an executive producer on the project and wrote the pilot, which was shot last year. “Snowpiercer” was ordered to series by TNT earlier this month. A source close to the network cited creative differences as the reason.

The series, based on the 2014 Bong Joon Ho film, takes place seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and centers on a small band of people who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. Jennifer Connelly stars as Melanie Cavill, an important first-class passenger and leader who is fascinated by the less fortunate riders on the train. The “Snowpiercer” cast also includes Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Alison Wright, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Lena Hall.

SAG Awards: Biggest Snubs and Surprises

SAG Awards: Biggest Snubs and Surprises
The Screen Actors Guild usually proves themselves to be creatures of habit: They reward the same stars, year in and year out — following their own patterns rather than setting any new trends.

But the night wasn’t completely by the books. Here’s a look at some of the award show’s biggest curveballs:

Surprise: “This Is Us” (NBC)

Admittedly, this race was a tough one to call: Good arguments could have been made for any of the nominees. But “Stranger Things” was a surprise win last year, and the SAG did it again, crowning the NBC tearjerker. The last time a broadcast series took home the trophy was in 2006 for ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Snub: “Stranger Things” (Netflix)

Speaking of “Stranger Things,” the Netflix series went 0-for-4 tonight. Nothing for David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, the stunt team, or the cast — depriving viewers of yet another rousing speech from Harbour and Winona Ryder’s facial

Nicole Kidman Wins SAG Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for ‘Big Little Lies’

Nicole Kidman Wins SAG Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for ‘Big Little Lies’
The question wasn’t so much if “Big Little Lies” would take home the SAG Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries, but who. As has happened multiple times since last fall, Nicole Kidman took home the prize, edging out two of her fellow cast members.

Co-stars Laura Dern and Reese Witherspoon were two of the other finalists in the Best Actress in a Miniseries category. The idea that the actresses from the HBO hit would cancel out votes for each other was mitigated by the fact that the only other series nominated in this category had a pair of actresses itself: Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon each picked up nods for “Feud: Bette and Joan.”

“It’s only the beginning,” Kidman said of the support stories about older

Morgan Freeman’s Awkward Shoutout to Lily Tomlin Was The SAG Awards’ Most Unusual Moment — Watch
As Morgan Freeman began his speech on stage at the SAG Awards on Sunday night, he suddenly stopped. “Hey … I’m talking to you. Yeah, hey,” he said to someone in the front of the audience. “Okay, well you just stand out to me for me, that’s all!”

At the time, it seemed like Freeman was either flirting with someone in the crowd, or chastising an audience member for being distracting as he began his acceptance speech as this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award honoree. (Sites like TMZ assumed it was the latter.) Watch the moment in the clip below.

But backstage, Freeman revealed to IndieWire that he actually was thrown by seeing a familiar face: Lily Tomlin. “She’s a wonder in herself and I’ve always loved her. I see her and I say hello!”

Entire James Bond Series has been Recut into a Full Length Movie

Coming soon from Team Spyral- the feature-length recut Bond, featuring all 6 actors in a Battle Royale duel to the bitter death using everything at their disposal. Watching every James Bond being recut into one full-length movie should be pretty awesome, but who in the world do you think would win? I tend to think that the others would eliminate Lazenby as swiftly as possible since a great many fans agree that he was one of the worst Bond’s ever to set foot into the franchise. Moore might last a while, as would Dalton, but the ruthless aggression aspect might

Netflix Lost as Much as $39 Million When It Canceled Louis C.K. and Kevin Spacey’s New Projects — Report
“Gore” is unlikely to ever see the light of day, given its star: Kevin Spacey, who faced a wave of sexual-harassment accusations late last year and was fired from “House of Cards” as a result. As for the Gore Vidal biopic, which was also produced by Netflix, the entire movie was scrapped. Louis C.K.’s planned second stand-up special met the same fate, and now Bloomberg (via Vulture) reports that not moving forward with either project cost the streaming service as much as $39 million.

“The Shape of Water” is Very Similar to 2015 Short Film “The Space Between Us”

The Shape of Water’ is very similar to this 2015 student short film from the Netherlands ‘The Space Between Us’. Both main characters are cleaning ladies who work in a research facility. They both fall for a fish man. Even the production design and some of the story beats are alike. One might almost think that Guillermo Del Toro took his idea straight from this short film, but then there are differences that can be noted. They both deal with the fact that the fish man is about to be euthanized and how the woman feels its her job to
